Situated at the foot of Fragrant Hills in the western scenic area of Beijing, with Yuquan Mountain to the north, the Fourth Ring Road to the east, and the Fifth Ring Road to the west, it is the closest sightseeing and picking orchard to downtown Beijing. Covering an area of 14 hectares and employing over 30 scientific and technical management personnel, it is a diversified collective enterprise integrating cherry research and development, high-efficiency premium production, propagation of superior seedlings, promotion of new cultivation technologies, marketing of produce and seedlings, as well as tourism, sightseeing, and fruit-picking services.

The orchard's cherry sightseeing garden has introduced and cultivated over 100 domestic and international cherry varieties, making it Beijing’s most diverse cherry-picking site. It also grows other fruits such as apricots, nectarines, crabapples, and jujubes. The cherry planting area spans over 100 acres, and the garden currently offers more than 30 premium varieties including Si Ji Qing Zao Hong, Hong Deng You Xi, Ju Hong, Jia Hong, Mei Hong, Pioneer, and Samino, all of which have received acclaim from the market and consumers. The garden emphasizes a well-balanced selection of early-, mid-, and late-season varieties, extending the cherry harvest period and enriching the market supply. It has been designated as a “Large Cherry Demonstration Base” by the Beijing Fruit Tree Society, a “Haidian Premium Cherry Variety Demonstration Base” and an “Outstanding Standardized Fruit Demonstration Unit” by the Beijing Science and Technology Commission, certified under Beijing’s Safe Edible Agricultural Products scheme, and recognized as a “Capital Greening and Beautification Garden-Style Unit” by the Capital Greening Committee.

The orchard features a garden-style design, elegant and classic in its delicate charm. It offers a landscape with hills, water, atmosphere, and scenery, planted with hundreds of rare trees and flowering shrubs. The perimeter is enclosed with European-style fencing. There is a 3,000-square-meter leisure area (featuring pavilions, wooden bridges, rockeries, waterside pavilions, various plants and trees—all labeled to provide educational value for visitors engaging in sightseeing and fruit picking), a 2,000-square-meter dining area, a 200-square-meter self-service restaurant, and a 1,000-square-meter shaded dining service area. With its refined environment and complete facilities, it attracts a continuous stream of visitors. At peak tourist seasons, the site welcomes up to a thousand visitors daily, offering citizens an ideal destination to enjoy sightseeing, fruit picking, and leisure amidst a green valley and oxygen-rich environment. It also generates commendable economic and social benefits for the enterprise.

From mid-May to late June each year, the Great Cherry Sightseeing & Picking Festival is held, now in its tenth edition, and has gained widespread popularity among local residents and tourists, with visitor numbers increasing year by year. In early spring, the garden is in full bloom; in spring, there are crystal-clear cherries and golden apricots; in summer, sweet peaches are in season; in autumn, there are jujubes and crabapples; and in late autumn to early winter, winter red fruits can still be picked. In 2004, the garden’s cherry varieties “Hong Yan,” “Hong Mi,” and “Hong Deng” won four awards—“Gold Award,” “First Prize,” “Second Prize,” and “Third Prize”—in the “Beijing Famous Fruits Public Evaluation” event, organized by the Beijing Rural Work Committee, Municipal Forestry Bureau, Beijing Fruit Industry Association, Beijing Fruit Tree Society, and the Organizing Committee of the Million Citizens’ Orchard Picking Activity. These accolades have made the garden’s cherry produce especially popular among visitors.
