YunTai Mountain, also known as Wuxian Mountain, is situated 2 kilometers from the county seat of Xia County on the edge of the Zhongtiao Mountain Range. This solitary, steep peak rises majestically, covered in lush greenery that seems to touch the sky. Nestled beside a river, it boasts pleasant scenery and is regarded as the foremost among the ancient Eight Scenic Spots of Xia County. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the area was filled with temples, making it a prime destination for visitors to worship and sightsee, especially during the Mid-Autumn Festival. During the Anti-Japanese War, all structures around YunTai Mountain were destroyed and the trees were burned. In 1954, the Xia County Party Committee and County Government mobilized the public to reforest YunTai, covering the eastern slope with cypress trees. The site was restored and reconstructed in 2004, and the grand reopening ceremony was held on September 29, 2006.
At the TaiXu Taoist Temple atop YunTai Mountain stands a nine-story Buddhist pagoda, which is 43.69 meters tall. Inside the pagoda are enshrined the Three Buddhas of the Past, Present, and Future, as well as the Five Great Bodhisattvas: Guanyin, Manjushri, Samantabhadra, Ksitigarbha, and Maitreya. The Taoist section includes halls and pavilions dedicated to the Three Pure Ones, the Three Officials, Wenchang, the Medicine King, and the Thunder God.
The Sacred Realm of YunTai harmoniously integrates Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, making it a sacred site of religious significance throughout history and a notable landmark of the ancient capital, Xia County.
