The Monument to the Red Army's Capture of Zhangzhou
Situated within the compound of the Zhangzhou Municipal Party Committee, the monument was completed in 1992. Its abstract design includes a main structure that rises 19.32 meters, symbolizing the capture of Zhangzhou by the main force of the Red Army in 1932. The base of the monument stands 90 centimeters above ground level and is approached by six tiers of steps at the front and back, signifying that it was built to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Red Army's victory in Zhangzhou. The front of the monument bears an inscription personally written by Marshal Nie Rongzhen: “Monument to the Capture of Zhangzhou by the Eastern Route Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army.”
