In recent years, through the implementation of the National Science and Technology Enriching People and Strengthening Counties Special Action Plan — the Pingyang County Pigeon Industry Key Technology Integration and Enhancement Project, 11 breeding bases in the county have been successively recognized as provincial pollution-free agricultural product production areas. The “Xingliang” brand pigeon eggs and “Meifeng” brand pigeon eggs have been certified as pollution-free agricultural products. Pingyang Pigeon Eggs have won one provincial famous trademark, one Zhejiang Famous Product, three Wenzhou Famous Products, and six gold awards at the Wenzhou Agricultural Expo and Zhejiang Agricultural Expo. The total number of pigeons in the county has reached 757,000 pairs, with an annual output value of the pigeon industry amounting to 203 million yuan. At present, pigeon breeding has developed into the county’s most distinctive leading agricultural industry and an effective pathway for local farmers to achieve prosperity.
