　　Yellow Earth Ridge Village is located by the Wuxi River in Hushan Township, Suichang County. Nestled against the mountains and surrounded by water on all sides, the village is accessible only by ferry. Leveraging its superior natural environment and natural “isolation zone,” the village turned its disadvantages into advantages and launched the cultivation of original eco-friendly Yellow Earth Ridge free-range chickens. On one hand, they adhere to the “grandmother’s farming method,” using traditional hen-hatching techniques, allowing the chickens to roam freely outdoors, foraging for themselves and eating only wild plants, insects, and dew, supplemented with grains such as rice and corn. In March of this year during the county’s “Tang Xianzu Culture · Encouraging Agriculture” festival, a Yellow Earth Ridge chicken pulled a goat weighing more than ten times its own, putting on a spectacular show of “chicken pulling goat.”

　　The Suichang Yellow Earth Ridge Free-Range Chicken Professional Cooperative manages the unified breeding and sales of free-range chickens across the village. It has applied to register the “Yellow Earth Ridge” brand trademark and designed and produced anti-counterfeiting labels, packaging boxes, and billboards to enhance the visibility and reputation of Yellow Earth Ridge free-range chickens.

　　The cooperative has signed a “Free-Range Chicken Breeding Responsibility Agreement” with farmers, implementing “household registration” style management and establishing village regulations. It makes full use of the village’s wasteland, woodland, idle farmland, and orchards for raising chickens, allowing the chickens to forage freely and supplementing their diet with grains, while strictly prohibiting the use of compound feed (additives). To ensure quality, all poultry products are banned from entering the village—only outgoing products are permitted.

　　In August 2008, the Yellow Earth Ridge Free-Range Chicken Breeding Demonstration Base was designated as a “Free-Range Chicken Breeding Demonstration Base” by the Provincial Resettlement Office due to its unique breeding environment and original eco-friendly methods. In November of the same year, at the invitation of Secretary Ge Xuebin, the Party Committee Secretary of the county, Hangzhou Longjing Cottage Catering Co., Ltd. visited Yellow Earth Ridge for an inspection. After evaluating the Yellow Earth Ridge Free-Range Chicken Breeding Demonstration Base, they concluded that the chickens, thanks to their unique breeding environment and original eco-friendly methods, are of pure quality, delicious in taste, and truly authentic free-range chickens. They subsequently signed a five-year purchase and sales contract with the cooperative, marking the entry of Yellow Earth Ridge free-range chickens into Hangzhou’s high-end restaurants.
