Kaihua Shiitake Mushrooms
Shiitake mushrooms are a well-known and highly regarded edible fungus. Their uniquely captivating and incomparable aroma is unmatched by other edible fungi and irreplaceable by any other food. Modern medical research indicates that shiitake mushrooms contain seven out of the eight essential amino acids required by the human body, as well as nucleic acid compounds and various vitamins. They are believed to help prevent rickets in children, and also show certain therapeutic effects on heart disease, neurasthenia, pernicious anemia, intestinal disorders, cirrhosis, and scurvy. Kaihua has a long history of shiitake cultivation, dating back to the early years of the Republic of China when shiitake production first began. In 1929, modern shiitake mushrooms won the first prize at the West Lake International Exposition. Starting in 1985, bagged log shiitake cultivation techniques were introduced and gradually promoted. Currently, shiitake mushrooms are produced using two methods: log cultivation and bagged substrate cultivation, with an annual production scale of 10 million logs (bags) and a fresh mushroom yield of 5,000 tons. Dried products are categorized into three grades: flower mushrooms, thick mushrooms, and regular mushrooms, while fresh mushrooms come in two types: standard and regular.
