Changshan Buddha Pomelo, also known as 87-17 Xiangpao, is a high-quality pomelo variety. In December 1997, it was awarded the Silver Prize for Quality Branded Citrus Fruits in Zhejiang Province.

Changshan Buddha Pomelo boasts outstanding features such as an attractive appearance, moderate fruit shape, sweet and delicious taste, seedlessness, high edible rate, and strong adaptability. The fruit has a great flavor and strong aroma, making it suitable for both fresh consumption and ornamental purposes.

Changshan Buddha Pomelo fruits are pear-shaped or flat-round, with a well-proportioned form, typically weighing around 500–1,000 grams per fruit. The rind is fine, smooth, and orange-yellow in color. There is a distinct round mark at the fruit’s apex, and the peel is thin—only 1.2 cm thick. The flesh is white, crisp, juicy, sweet with a pleasant acidity, and rich in flavor, with soluble solids content exceeding 12%, total amino acids reaching 1,860 ppm, and vitamin C content at 73.90 mg/100g. It is either seedless or contains a small number of degenerated seeds, with an edible rate of 65%. The fruit emits a strong, long-lasting fragrance that can fill a room when placed indoors.

Changshan Buddha Pomelos generally ripen in mid-to-late November. They can be eaten immediately after harvest for an excellent taste, or stored until February to March of the following year, making them a great gift choice during the Spring Festival.
