Baodi Red Skin Garlic
Baodi Red Skin Garlic, also known as Purple Skin Garlic, has long enjoyed a prestigious reputation in history. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was a renowned delicacy in the imperial cuisine of the capital region. It boasts a spicy, rich aroma and a pure flavor. Its juice is thick and rich in gum, making it an excellent adhesive that prevents insect damage—ideal for crafting silk flowers and mounting handicrafts. The main variety is "Six-Clove Red." Sprouting garlic from this type has dense, tightly-packed bulbs that are easy to store, durable for transport, and relatively resistant to disease. Topped garlic (harvested after the sprout is removed) produces large bulbs with a mild, pleasant spiciness, excellent both raw and cooked, and is commonly used for green garlic shoots and dried garlic.
