Enyang Green Vegetables

Located in Enyang Town in northeastern Sichuan, the area has a long history of growing green vegetables, which are popular in markets across northern Sichuan counties and towns. Currently, its large-scale production of pollution-free vegetables—including carrots, ginger, green beans, seedless fruit cucumbers, lotus roots, cauliflower, celery, and various melons—holds a significant share in major vegetable markets and supermarkets across Bazhong City, counties, and districts. Especially, the ginger is sold well beyond the province. It has become one of the largest green vegetable planting bases in northeastern Sichuan.

In recent years, the Party Committee and government of Enyang Town have focused on industrialized management, with an emphasis on base construction and land transfer as key approaches. They have vigorously developed green vegetables. The town has prioritized villages such as Mashi, Baiyu, Hangu, Hongmei, Yiyang, and Wenzhi, cumulatively planting vegetables on 12,000 mu of land. This includes 3,000 mu of garlic, 2,000 mu of cucumbers, 5,000 mu of ginger, and 2,000 mu of other vegetables. Five vegetable base villages, 63 base cooperatives, and over 560 large-scale vegetable growers have been established. Vegetable farming has become a fast track to prosperity for the people of Enyang, with an income increase of 800 yuan from this alone. Particularly, the off-season vegetables from Feifeng Village are in high demand in markets in Bazhong and Chengdu. Under the guidance and drive of the Vegetable Industry Association, the town has built a closely integrated vegetable production, wholesale, and distribution network. Over 70% of the vegetables produced are sold outside the town through the association, making their way to dining tables across the region.
