　　The “Zhonghua” brand cigarettes are a high-end, premium product of the roasted tobacco type, hailed as the “National Cigarette” and an outstanding representative of China’s cigarette brands. Zhonghua cigarettes feature a golden-yellow hue and a pure, delicate aroma. They have been awarded the “National Quality Gold Award” and ranked among the “Top Ten Famous Trademarks in China.” The Zhonghua brand has gradually developed a series of products with different tar contents such as 18mg, 15mg, 11mg, as well as various packaging specifications.

Over the past fifty years, the quality of “Zhonghua” brand cigarettes has been continuously improved and enhanced with new technological elements, achieving sustained, stable, and healthy development. The earliest version of “Zhonghua” cigarettes produced were soft-pack, 20-cigarette packs without filters. In 1959, filtered cigarettes began to be produced. Although the product quality took a step up, production volume remained very limited. In 1966, the annual output of Zhonghua cigarettes was 3,600 cases, with filtered versions accounting for only 110 cases. Around the time of the reform and opening-up, equipment was upgraded, enabling mass production of internationally standard full-packaged filtered cigarettes. In 1988, the production of Zhonghua cigarettes exceeded 10,000 cases, marking another significant leap. The pace of development accelerated markedly in the 1990s, with production surpassing 100,000 cases in 1997. In recent years, the average growth rate has exceeded ten percent. Over the past fifty years, cumulative production and sales of Zhonghua cigarettes have reached approximately 1.25 million cases. The brand has made outstanding contributions to socialist modernization, and its quality, reputation, and profitability rank among the best in the industry. These achievements are the result of the hard work and wisdom of several generations of Shanghai Tobacco professionals.
