“Demoli Stewed Fish” has a history of over a hundred years. The term “Demoli” is a transliteration from the Russian language, referring to Demoli Village in Yi’antong Township, Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province. As the village is located north of the Songhua River, its residents have traditionally made a living primarily through fishing. In the early 1980s, a couple in the village opened a small roadside restaurant to serve travelers taking a break. They stewed locally caught live carp together with tofu, wide rice noodles, creating a delicious flavor that was greatly appreciated by passersby. Over time, more and more people came to try it, and the business flourished. From the 1990s onward, it began to gain fame throughout the province. “Demoli” has since become a nationally renowned trademark.
