The original strain of Fangzheng Silver Crucian Carp originates from Shuangfeng Reservoir in Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province, and is one of China’s unique triploid crucian carp species. To protect this valuable and premium-quality fish, Shuangfeng Reservoir in Fangzheng County has been designated as the original strain production base.

Fangzheng Silver Crucian Carp boasts advantages such as a small head, thick back, high meat yield, cold resistance, strong disease resistance, fast growth, and large individual size. Using this fish as the female parent and common carp as the male parent, the artificially bred Yinjiang Crucian Carp—developed through heterologous sperm-induced gynogenesis—exhibits even more superior farming traits. Its growth rate is 20% faster than that of ordinary crucian carp, and it can increase aquaculture yield by over 30%. Suitable for farming across various regions and methods in both southern and northern China, the fish can reach an individual weight of over 300 grams within a year.

Originally from Shuangfeng Reservoir in Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province, Fangzheng Silver Crucian Carp has become one of the most popular aquatic products among farming operations and consumers alike due to its fast growth, strong disease resistance, and excellent taste. Especially favored by farming units in southern China, Fangzheng County is home to China’s only national-level silver crucian carp original strain farm. Since 1975, the fish has gradually been introduced to over 20 provinces and cities across China, generating significant economic and social benefits.
