Sunwu is a border city, located 90 kilometers from Aihui and under the jurisdiction of Heihe. The county covers an area of 4,454 square kilometers and is an agricultural region situated at a high latitude, encompassing three accumulated temperature zones—4, 5, and 6. It boasts a superior geographical location, with the Beian–Heihe Railway and National Highway 202 passing through. Adjacent areas include the cities of Heihe, the counties of Xunke and Nenjiang, and Wudalianchi City, all bordering Sunwu. Additionally, state-owned farms such as Hongsebianjiang Farm, Xunke Farm, and Wudalianchi Farm are located within or near Sunwu’s jurisdiction. This area is known as the homeland of non-GMO soybeans in northern China and is also one of the country’s major soybean production regions. Its advantageous transportation links and abundant resources—including soybeans, fiddlehead ferns, and black fungus—attract numerous domestic and international merchants. Over 300,000 tons of soybeans are sold through Sunwu each year.
