In recent years, Keshan County has consistently implemented a green food development strategy, accelerating the process of agricultural industrialization. The county has adhered to the approach of leading enterprises driving base development, gradually moving toward integrated production, processing, and sales. In 2001, the county achieved new breakthroughs in the development of green food, playing the "green card" and taking a distinctive path by vigorously strengthening the construction of green food bases, improving technological content, increasing overall benefits, and using this to promote the sustained, stable, and coordinated development of the county economy.

Keshan boasts abundant natural resources and fertile soil, enjoying unique agricultural advantages. It is a national key commodity grain production base county, an export base county for soybeans, and a potato base county, often referred to as the "Granary of the North" and the "Hometown of Soybeans." Over the past few years, Keshan County has adhered to a strategy of revitalizing the county through science and education, relying closely on the Keshan Research Institute of the Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences to vigorously develop green agriculture. In 2001, the county established five green agriculture bases, covering a total area of 805,000 mu, including 500,000 mu of soybeans, 100,000 mu of potatoes, 100,000 mu of miscellaneous beans, 65,000 mu of beetroot, and 40,000 mu of rice, generating an economic benefit of 160 million yuan.

Keshan County has more than 10 types of wild mountain products, among which bracken, wood ear mushrooms, and regular mushrooms are the most abundantly produced. Yongquan Township's Shanquan Natural Food Company processes 100 tons of wild vegetables annually, suitable for salads, side dishes, or stir-frying, all with delicious flavors. The company also processes 50 tons of mushrooms per year, ideal for stewing and exceptionally tasty. Beilian Forest Farm is a piece of pristine land, perfect for foraging. The wild products can be soaked and eaten directly. These products are rich in trace elements and are high-protein, low-fat, and low-calorie foods.
