  “Molidor Onions” refer to onions produced in Molidor Township, Daur Autonomous Region, Heilongjiang Province. They are a China National Geographic Indication Protected Product. Known for their superior quality, these onions contain 0.3% more nutrients than those from other regions. They are exported to multiple countries and regions including Russia, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. They have been awarded the nationally approved – Green Food Label.

  . It has been measured that Molidor Onions contain 0.3% more nutrients than onions from other regions. The favorable climate conditions and specific cultivation techniques in Molidor Township, Daur Autonomous Region, Heilongjiang Province, have nurtured the unique high quality of these onions. Renowned nationwide for their excellence, they are exported to multiple countries and regions including Russia, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. In 2006, the “Dabaqi Brand” onions from the township were awarded the nationally approved – Green Food Label. In early 2007, Molidor Onions were granted the title of “Geographical Indication Protected Product” by the State Administration for Market Regulation due to their distinctive qualities.

  Industry Development

    To develop the onion industry, the Molidor District has adhered to the overall strategy of “playing the green card and taking the distinctive path,” consistently treating the onion industry as a key measure to enhance agricultural efficiency and increase farmers’ income. Efforts have been made to build industrial support by promoting regionalized layout, large-scale planting, standardized production, and industrialized management of high-quality green onion products. Work has also focused on naming, registering, and applying for and certifying green labels for green onion products, thereby improving the organization, marketization, comparative benefits, and market competitiveness of onion production. In terms of cultivation, the district has implemented standardized production, formulated the “Onion Standardized Production Technical Regulations,” and distributed them to onion farmers. Training sessions have also been organized. Agricultural technicians have been dispatched to provide guidance in the fields. On this basis, the district has strongly supported the Onion Association, giving priority to funding and base construction, and fully leveraging the association’s role in guiding and assisting with seedling cultivation, planting, field management, pesticide and fertilizer use, sales, and many other aspects.

  Production Area Scope

    The protected area for Molidor Onions as a Geographical Indication Product is based on the scope proposed in the “Request for the Declaration of the Molidor Onions Geographical Indication Product Protected Area” (Qi Mei Zheng Cheng [2005] No. 24) from the Molidor Daur Autonomous Region, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. It includes the administrative regions of six townships under the Molidor Daur Autonomous Region, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province: Molidor Township, Yarse Town, Gonghe Town, Dahudian Town, Woniu Tu Town, and Manggetu Township.
