Shed film edible fungi
In recent years, Xinshe Village has intensified its efforts in agricultural industrial restructuring, transitioning from traditional agriculture to facility-based and high-efficiency agriculture. The village has established a demonstration park for edible fungus cultivation, gradually forming a rural industry centered on the cultivation of shiitake mushrooms in shed films. Currently, the village plans to build a total of 1,200 shed film structures on 2,100 acres of land, accounting for 72.1% of the village’s total dry farmland area. In 2010, the first phase of the Xinshe Edible Fungus Cultivation Park project, with an investment of 10.5 million yuan, was completed. It included the construction of 200 shed film structures—100 solar heat-storage greenhouses and 100 cold sheds—as well as 3,000 linear meters of roads, 1,000 linear meters of 200-kilowatt power lines, and 80 wells. The second phase commenced in May 2011. The entire project is expected to drive economic development worth 18 million yuan within one year, increase farmers’ income by 5.8 million yuan (or 7,500 yuan per capita), and provide long-term employment for 300–400 people.
The village’s “Tonghua County Xinshe Edible Fungus Cultivation Professional Cooperative” now has 350 members (households), accounting for 79% of the total number of farming households in the village. The cooperative has attracted Zhejiang Siyi Agricultural Products Development Co., Ltd. to establish operations in the park, adopting an “farmers + professional cooperative + company” industrial operation model. Specifically, the cooperative is responsible for selecting product varieties, conducting market research, negotiating trade deals, and acting as the product representative; the company handles the production of mushroom spawn, provides technical guidance, recovers the products, processes and sells them, and advances payments for raw materials; and the farmers manage the shed facilities and produce the products. Currently, Xinshe Village’s edible fungus products are sold locally in Tonghua, Kuaida, Dandong, Dalian, and Shenyang, and exported to Japan, South Korea, and the Hong Kong and Macao regions, forming a distinctive industrial chain driven by both the industry and the market. The village collects a management fee of 0.2 yuan per kilogram from the company’s finished products as collective income, generating 400,000–600,000 yuan annually, truly achieving a win-win situation for growers, companies, and the village collective.
