Evening primrose belongs to the Onagraceae family and the Oenothera genus. It is commonly known as mountain sesame, night-blooming cereus, or evening-primrose. The seeds of the evening primrose contain about 20% oil, which is composed of roughly 70% unsaturated fatty acids. Among these unsaturated fatty acids, 7–8% are gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). It can effectively prevent atherosclerosis, lower blood lipids, prevent thrombosis, combat arrhythmia, aid in weight loss, delay aging, and help prevent obesity, among other benefits. The wild evening primrose resources in our city are very abundant, distributed across all six counties and districts. The collection of wild resources alone can meet local market demand. (Baishan)
