Rhodiola rosea from Changbai Mountain is a protected geographical indication product.
Rhodiola rosea from Changbai Mountain, also known as Siberian Rhodiola, grows at altitudes above 3,500 meters on Changbai Mountain. It has a cold nature, sweet and astringent taste. Only certain regions in the world are suitable for its growth, mainly distributed in the Russian Far East, Japan, northern Korea, and the high-altitude areas of northeastern China, covering a relatively small area. In July 2006, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine approved the implementation of geographical indication product protection for Rhodiola rosea from Changbai Mountain, with the protected area being the administrative region governed by Linjiang City, Jilin Province.
In accordance with the "Regulations on the Protection of Geographical Indication Products," the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine conducted a review of the application for geographical indication product protection for Rhodiola rosea from Changbai Mountain. Upon approval, protection was granted starting from July 12, 2006.
Protected Area
The protected area for Rhodiola rosea from Changbai Mountain as a geographical indication product is defined according to the range proposed in the "Letter on Determining the Original Production Area Protection Scope of Epimedium from Changbai Mountain and Rhodiola rosea from Changbai Mountain" (Linzhenfa [2005] No. 29) issued by the People's Government of Linjiang City, Jilin Province, which is the current administrative region under the jurisdiction of Linjiang City, Jilin Province.
