The stem and leaves are alternate, closely spaced, and sessile, shaped like spoon-like obovate, oblong-lanceolate, or elliptic, larger than the rosette leaves, reaching up to 7 cm, with purplish-red spots on both surfaces. The inflorescence is a dense, cylindrical raceme, 5–20 cm long, with five white or pale green petals that turn pale yellow when dry, ten stamens with yellow anthers, and five carpels. The fruit is an ovoid follicle.
