Sable fur

　　The sable, also known as the black sable and commonly referred to as "big leaf," belongs to the order Carnivora and the genus Martes. The wild sables found within Jilin City are of the Changbai Mountain subspecies, making them a rare and precious fur-bearing animal. Sable fur is a type of fine-haired luxury fur. Its leather is delicate, durable, and resilient, with a thick underfur, supple guard hairs, a glossy sheen, and an elegant, soft texture, historically regarded as a treasured item. Garments made from sable fur are warm in the wind, warm to the touch like flame, repel water without soaking, and shed snow upon contact. During the Qing Dynasty, it was stipulated that only the imperial family and nobles of the second rank and above were permitted to wear sable fur. (Jilin)
