In its early days, Fuyuan Hall was a small tea snack shop primarily selling tea, along with oil tea and rice noodles. With a limited range of products and a very small storefront — including the workshop and storage area, it covered just over 200 square meters. Thanks to its prime location at the old shipyard’s water-land dock, it attracted customers with fragrant tea and delicious snacks, gradually building up its business. It then established the name “Bu Yuan Hall.” Later in 1850 (the 30th year of the Daoguang reign in the Qing Dynasty), a businessman surnamed Wu, known as “Junliu Dada,” came from out of town, invested in expanding the business, hired skilled chefs, and began producing a variety of pastries for direct sale. The shop also offered more than 20 other items, including fruits, sausages, ham, cured duck, and char siu pork. As the business grew and profits increased, to ensure a continuous flow of wealth, the name was changed to “Fu Yuan Hall” (literally “Hall of Three Blessings”), taking “Fu San Yuan” (Three Sources of Blessing) as its foundation, and replacing “Bu Yuan Hall” with “Fuyuan Hall.” In the later years of the puppet Manchukuo regime, the business declined, eventually ceasing operations. It wasn’t until the liberation of Jilin City in 1948, and with the construction of New China, that Fuyuan Hall gradually resumed production and operations. Today, Fuyuan Hall has evolved from a small workshop and retail shop into a food enterprise that encompasses the processing of Chinese and Western pastries, frozen foods, cooked foods, beverages, as well as wholesale and retail. In 1994, it was named a “China Time-Honored Brand” by the Ministry of Commerce. Product range: various traditional Chinese pastries, modern Western pastries, birthday cakes, frozen foods, cooked foods, beverages, ice desserts, and more.
