The Pinggu District Special Animal Breeding Farm is under the Pinggu District Animal Husbandry Service Center (formerly the Pinggu County Animal Husbandry Bureau) in Beijing. It is an industrialized leading enterprise integrating research, development, production, processing, catering, and food services in the poultry and livestock industry. Its main species is the blue peafowl, alongside white peafowl, Chinese Imperial Yellow Chicken, partridges, meat pigeons, Lady Amherst’s pheasants, guinea fowl, turkeys, mallard ducks, wild geese, black-bone chickens, and black-bone green-shell egg-laying chickens—over ten types of special poultry. In 1997, the farm was designated as a key project for the industrialized management and mountainous development of special poultry breeding by the Ministry of Forestry and the Beijing Municipal Government. In 1999, it was recognized as a national demonstration farm for the breeding of special economic animals. In 2000, it was honored as a national advanced unit for the breeding of special animals. In 2001, with approval from the Beijing Municipal Forestry Bureau’s Wildlife Protection Station, the farm was permitted to engage in business and utilization, and was certified by the Beijing Green Safety Office as a "safe edible agricultural product." The farm’s hotel was rated as a "food hygiene trustworthy unit" by the Pinggu District Government and health authorities in 2002. It was also designated as a "Beijing Agricultural Standardized Production Demonstration Base" in 2002. Developing special animal breeding is a low-investment, high-yield, and high-return path to prosperity. With strong technical capabilities and continuously expanding operations, the farm has become the largest blue peafowl and special poultry breeding base in North China, with products sold nationwide.
