Liaoning is known as the "Hometown of Apples." The apples produced here have long been famous both at home and abroad for their superior quality, large yields, delicious taste, and excellent storage capability. For a long time, the province ranked first in apple production nationwide. Currently, its apple output accounts for about one quarter of the national total, while its exports make up over three quarters of the country’s total apple exports.

Apples, a major fruit of the rose family, are hailed as the "Crown of Temperate Fruits." They can be eaten fresh or processed into dried fruits, preserves, jams, juices, canned goods, and used in brewing. They also offer high medicinal value. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that apples can nourish the heart, benefit qi, promote fluid production, quench thirst, stimulate appetite, and strengthen the spleen. Modern medicine has found that apples can help prevent increased cholesterol, reduce blood sugar levels, treat diabetes, and alleviate chronic poisoning caused by environmental pollution. Eating apples regularly is highly beneficial to human health.

Liaoning apples are attractively colored, smooth-skinned, richly fragrant, tender in flesh, moderately sweet and sour, crisp and delicious, and highly resistant to transport and storage.
