Dandong Menzi
Menzi is a local specialty of Dandong. Made from starch using a special process, it resembles transparent jelly-like blocks, which are cut into small squares about two to three centimeters in size. These translucent pieces are pan-fried until slightly crispy, then drizzled with soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, chili oil, and sesame paste. Topped with minced scallions, minced garlic, and other seasonings… A steaming, fragrant plate of Menzi is ready—just 1.5 yuan per serving, delicious and affordable (Note: be sure to fry it longer, and add plenty of sesame paste and spicy sauce).
