Jianchang Millet

Jianchang Millet is a geographical indication certification trademark.

Jianchang County in Liaoning Province is well-known for its abundant millet production. As early as during the reign of Empress Dowager Cixi, it was designated as tribute rice by the royal family because of its yellow color, plump grains, and high content of vitamins, various minerals, proteins, along with many health-promoting properties. This recognition stems from the area’s high altitude, extended sunshine duration, and superior millet maturity. The millet is rich in nutrients, cultivated using traditional farming and processing methods, and entirely fertilized with organic manure. Some farmers even use ground sesame as base fertilizer, making it a purely green, pollution-free product. The product has been inspected and certified by the Provincial Department of Agriculture as “Pollution-Free Agricultural Product,” and the corresponding certificate has been issued. In 2006, the National Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Center of the Ministry of Agriculture awarded the Yaolugou Coarse Cereals Production Cooperative the “Pollution-Free High-Quality Product Certificate.”
