Hukou Crisp Pear
Hukou Crisp Pear is a specialty of Hukou Town, Yichuan County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. Yichuan Hukou Crisp Pears are celebrated for their clean and elegant appearance, golden-yellow sheen, thin and fine skin, sweet taste, juiciness, crispness, and health benefits such as moistening the lungs, clearing heat, and detoxifying. They have won the “Shaanxi Provincial Quality Fruit Award” multiple times in the province’s fruit quality evaluations, earning great popularity among consumers.
Hukou Crisp Pear, also known as Dangshan Pear, was originally introduced to Hukou from Dangshan, Anhui. Due to the unique geographical and climatic conditions of Hukou, its quality fundamentally changed, at which time it was referred to as Hukou Pear. With increasingly scientific cultivation methods, Hukou Pears have come to exhibit even more desirable traits such as bright fruit color, tender skin, crisp flesh, juiciness, and sweetness, leading to its renaming as Hukou Crisp Pear.
The cultivation of Yichuan Hukou Crisp Pear has a long history and is mainly distributed across Hukou Township, Gaobai Township, Danzhou Town, and 0 Town. The planted area has now reached 25,000 mu.
After years of tracking and evaluation by the Shaanxi Provincial Fruit Research Association, Hukou Crisp Pear has been identified as the only pear variety without “stone cells.” With its beautiful appearance, high sugar content, delicate texture, and crisp taste, Hukou Crisp Pear has earned recognition from experts and favor among merchants.
