Binchuan County in Dali, Yunnan Province, is a well-known red globe grape production base in the southern part of the country. Thanks to its abundant sunshine and plentiful water supply, Binchuan is among the earliest domestic regions where red globe grapes are available on the market. The grape cultivation area in Binchuan spans over 90,000 acres, with more than 60,000 acres currently bearing fruit. Among them, the premium grape variety grown in our county—red globe grapes—began cultivation in 1992. With advanced cultivation and management techniques, it is the earliest region in the country where red globe grapes are harvested. The average weight of a single red globe grape is 10 grams, and exceptionally large ones can exceed 13 grams. The grapes are red or purplish-red in color, with a medium to thick skin that is easy to peel. The flesh is firm yet crisp, tender and juicy, with a sweet and tangy flavor. Currently, the main grape varieties cultivated in Binchuan include early-maturing green grapes (such as Superior Seedless, White Heart, and Victoria) and late-maturing red globe grapes.
