Tengchong black tea is rich in various vitamins essential to the human body due to its unique growing conditions, making it a health-promoting beverage. The earliest historical record of Tengchong tea dates back to the state chronicles from the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty, and by the Daoguang era, tea cultivation had reached a significant scale, with tea trading also emerging among the public. By the 1920s and 1930s, national capitalists introduced the Assam variety from India, widely planting tea to replace opium poppy cultivation—tea hills took the place of poppy fields, and tea became one of the region’s most important cash crops.
