　　Danzhai County has been vigorously supporting farmers in cultivating high-quality selenium-rich rice. This year, over 20,000 mu of selenium rice planted across four townships (towns) in the county all achieved a bountiful harvest. Selenium rice is a pollution-free, premium-quality rice with grains that are crystal-clear like jade, smooth and translucent, and richly fragrant. Its market value is significantly higher than that of ordinary rice. Danzhai County has been awarded the dual titles of “China’s Hometown of Selenium Rice” and “China’s Hometown of Selenium- and Zinc-Rich Tea” by the China Specialties Promotion and Publicity Committee. The attainment of these titles is beneficial for the county to implement its brand strategy and enhance the visibility of its agricultural products.

　　 The Danzhai Selenium-Zinc Rice product features grains that are crystal-clear like jade, glossy and transparent, with a rich fragrance. The cooked rice is soft, delicious, aromatic, sticky yet not greasy. According to tests conducted by the Institute of Nutrition and Food Hygiene at the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, its selenium content is 6.66μg per 100g, and zinc content ranges from 15 to 50mg per kg, meeting the normal physiological growth needs of the human body. Zinc helps prevent myopia and improve eyesight, while selenium plays a role in synthesizing selenium-containing enzymes and proteins, enhancing immunity, and preventing cancer, among other benefits. As consumers’ living standards continue to improve and they pay increasing attention to health and wellness, the product has gained widespread favor among consumers. In addition to having a broad market within the province in cities such as Kaili, Duyun, and Guiyang, the rice is also exported to places like Hunan, Shanghai, Shandong, Ningbo, and Guangzhou.
