Linguan Tea
Linguan Tea
Tea processing takes place at the Linguan Tea Plantation in Liudou, which sits at an elevation of 1,203 meters and covers an area 3.5 kilometers wide from east to west and 8 kilometers long from north to south. The plantation includes scattered patches of wasteland and boasts beautiful scenery. In the winter of 1991, the county’s armed forces department initiated the establishment of a militia-operated tea plantation, with the Liudou Town armed forces department handling the implementation. By 1993, 1,500 acres of tea gardens were in production, yielding 32,500 jin of tea. The plantation was then renamed the Linguan Tea Plantation, focusing primarily on tea cultivation. In that year, Liudou Town assigned four officials to manage the operations at the Linguan Tea Plantation. Tea production and output value continued to rise, reaching an annual income of over 800,000 yuan by 1995. That year, the plantation paid 163,000 yuan in taxes and recorded a profit of 140,000 yuan. With increased strength, the plantation built staff dormitories, tea processing facilities, a shop, recreational areas for employees, and a basketball court. The tea produced here is sold across provinces and has been recognized by experts for its excellent quality. In 1999, due to reforms in the management system, Liudou Town contracted the plantation to private individual operators. Local surplus labor was employed by these private owners to help manage and work on the plantation. As a result, the Linguan Tea Plantation has provided a favorable environment and employment opportunities for local residents, contributing to local economic development and prosperity.
