Zheng'an Eagle Tea holds an irreplaceable advantage among other types of tea such as black tea, green tea, and oolong tea produced in our county. When brewed, Zheng'an Eagle Tea is pure and delicious in taste, with a reddish-brown color, and mainly offers benefits such as promoting saliva production, relieving summer heat, and quenching thirst.
II. Historical Origins and Geographic-Cultural Connections
Zheng'an Eagle Tea is a tree species. It has been cultivated in our county for over 300 years, growing to a height of 5–7 meters. In spring, it blooms with pink flowers that emit a pleasant fragrance. The plant is evergreen all year round and produces new shoots in both spring and summer. It is widely distributed across areas at altitudes of 600 to 2,000 meters, covering all townships in our county. People often set up ladders to pick the leaves in late spring for processing. Medicinally, it is used to gently wipe babies’ faces and bodies, and has proven therapeutic effects. Therefore, especially in summer, every household in our county enjoys using Eagle Tea to relieve heat and quench thirst.
III. Efforts by Local Government
Due to the long history of Eagle Tea in our county, under the leadership of local authorities, farmers spontaneously harvest and process it locally. During the summer, the amount of Eagle Tea entering the market reaches around 50,000 kilograms, with sales extending to Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangxi, and other provinces and regions.
