Last updated 2026-11-08 — This black glutinous rice wine is truly unique. It is crafted by the Miao people using their local specialty — black glutinous rice — and fermented with an ancient brewing method passed down through generations. Huishui Black Glutinous Rice Wine

Huishui Black Glutinous Rice Wine is a protected geographical indication product.

This wine is unlike ordinary ones. Made from the local specialty black glutinous rice and brewed using age-old Miao techniques, it is a low-alcohol liquor. Although the Miao people have long considered it a top-quality drink for hosting guests, they never revealed the brewing process to other ethnic groups. In 1979, the Huishui County Distillery in Guizhou Province uncovered this precious variety. After researching and compiling its traditional brewing methods and combining them with modern techniques, they developed a uniquely styled black glutinous rice wine through repeated refinement. In 1983, it was honored as one of “Guizhou’s Famous Liquors.”

The wine is crystal clear with a radiant red sheen, offering a delicate and pleasant aroma. Its taste is sweet, tangy, and refreshingly smooth, rich yet mellow, with a well-balanced body. As an emerging type of sweet yellow wine, it stands out among its peers. Beyond being an exceptional beverage, it also contains nutrients such as protein, various amino acids, fats, sugars, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and multiple vitamins. Verified by the Guizhou Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this wine has health benefits including nourishing qi, warming the spleen and stomach, tonifying kidneys, and blackening hair. It is used to treat conditions like night sweats, excessive sweating, chronic thirst, poor appetite, indigestion, food stagnation, chronic nephritis, and polyuria. Serving both as a tonic and medicinal wine, it offers dual benefits.
