Yellow River Carp from Wanjiazhai
Yellow River Carp from Wanjiazhai are plump in body, with thick, tender, delicious meat that is rich in nutrients. After passing through Hekou Town in Togtoh County, Inner Mongolia, the Yellow River makes a sharp turn and flows through Wanjiazhai in Pianguan, Xinzhou region. This stretch of the river winds along with varying widths, offering a naturally tranquil environment as well as nutrient-rich sediment deposited from upstream. The peak fishing season is during the Qingming Festival, known as “opening-river fish.” Yellow River carp typically weigh around 1.5 kilograms, though some can reach 2 to 3 kilograms. Legend has it that in ancient times, Tianqiao Fishing Ground could yield tens of thousands of kilograms of carp annually. Since the Ming Dynasty, Yellow River carp have been listed as tribute items.
