Minor cereals
Minor cereals
Tunliu has a humid continental climate, with vast mountainous and hilly areas, and is far from sources of “three wastes” pollution. The local people have a long-standing tradition of growing minor cereals. In 2000, nine varieties produced in the area—including yellow soybeans, black soybeans, green soybeans, red adzuki beans, mung beans, cowpeas, “Pearl Yellow” millet, corn grits, and Sanhe noodles—received national green food certification. A total of 3,400 acres of land within the county obtained conversion certificates for organic food production. Currently, the cultivation of minor cereals has reached 200,000 mu, with an annual output of up to 15 million kilograms. The county’s Green (Organic) Food Production Leading Group is specifically responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the production of minor cereals and other related products across the county. Enterprises such as Yishen Organic Food Company specialize in the selection, packaging, processing, and sales of minor cereals.
