　　Dabiao in Xinhui District is situated in the Xijiang River basin, with fertile soil and a dense system of water channels, making it suitable for growing arrowhead and lotus root. Thanks to the region’s unique soil, water quality, and other environmental factors, the produce boasts superior quality, enjoys fame across the five regions of Jiangmen, and has become a distinctive agricultural product of Dabiao Town. Lotus root is a perennial aquatic herbaceous plant belonging to the Nymphaeaceae family. It has been cultivated in China for over 3,000 years, and the planting of lotus root in Dabiao Town dates back more than 100 years. Dabiao lotus root features delicate flesh, high starch content, and abundant vitamins. It tastes sweet and refreshing, and is known to have benefits such as clearing heat, relieving summer heat, and lowering blood sugar. It can be cooked by stir-frying or stewing, and holds high nutritional and economic value. In 2004, Dabiao lotus root received a Pollution-Free Agricultural Product Certification from the Quality and Safety Center of the Ministry of Agriculture (Certificate No.: WGH0403163). In October 2005, Dabiao-brand lotus root was awarded a Green Food Certificate by the China Green Food Development Center.
