Jishan Flat Dates
Jishan Flat Dates is a geographical indication certification trademark.
Jishan Flat Dates are ranked first among the top ten famous dates in Shanxi, primarily produced in Chengguan, Huayu, and Xiaqu, three towns in Jishan County.
The flat dates have thin skins, thick flesh, and small pits. Their flesh is sweet, and they are flat and round, slightly wider at the top and narrower at the bottom—hence the name "flat dates." When ripe, they turn dark red, with white-green flesh. High-quality dried dates have smooth, unwrinkled skin, are plump and elastic, with light red flesh that can bounce back even when pressed. They can be stretched into golden, shiny strands 30–60 cm long. With a sugar content of 31.33%, an acid content of 0.1%, and 499 mg of vitamin C per 100 grams, they also contain various trace elements such as potassium, sodium, calcium, manganese, zinc, and iron. They are a premium tonic with high medicinal value. In 1982, they won the top prize at the first Agricultural Products Exhibition.
