Jishan Mother-of-Pearl Inlay
Jishan Mother-of-Pearl Inlay: It is divided into two craft types—hard mother-of-pearl inlay and soft mother-of-pearl inlay. The patterns feature both ancient and modern architecture, figures, flowers, birds, and animals. The designs are uniquely shaped, with densely set mother-of-pearl pieces, richly detailed patterns, and an elegant, classic charm. Particularly notable are the snuff bottles, where on surfaces no larger than a matchbox, over a thousand pieces of mother-of-pearl and gold-silver threads are inlaid to form exquisitely layered and distinctive images, all with incredible precision. The craft of Jishan Mother-of-Pearl Inlay dates back to around the Song Dynasty.
