The raw materials used in the production of Anhua Dark Tea are all sun-dried black tea leaves, which are further graded into seven categories: “bud tip, white downy tip, Tianjian, Gongjian, Xiangjian, Shengjian, and Bianjian.” Among these, “bud tip” is considered the finest grade, but due to its extremely limited quantity, it never became a market-traded product. Therefore, among the dark tea products currently available on the market, Tianjian Tea is the best.

In ancient times, Tianjian Tea was a noble gift presented by tea merchants to high-ranking officials, wealthy merchants, and relatives or friends. During the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (around 1825), it was listed as an imperial tribute, exclusively for the consumption of the royal family. Today, it has become a fashionable beverage among affluent individuals in southern China. This tea can be brewed or boiled; it is suitable for both pure drinking and making milk tea. It is especially fitting when brewed in teapots at southern teahouses or prepared as cold drinks at home. Nowadays, drinking Tianjian Tea has become a trend in many provinces and cities across the country, particularly in Guangzhou in the south and Xi'an in the northwest.

Tianjian Tea is made from fresh tea leaves harvested during the Grain Rain season. It features a dark color, a sweet and refreshing taste, a uniquely pure pine-smoke aroma, a mellow flavor, a deep yellow and bright liquor, evenly shaped and relatively tender leaves, along with stable quality. Long-term consumption of this tea is believed to have health benefits such as weight loss, lowering blood lipids and blood pressure, and enhancing the body’s immune system.
