Yan Mountain Polled Goats

Originating from Kuancheng, Hebei, these goats are large and robust, with broad and flat foreheads proportionate to their body size. Their ears are slightly forward and upward, and they have long beards under the jaw. Their backs are straight, and their bodies are deep and wide, showing a distinct meat-type conformation. Their limbs are strong, and their hooves are solid. The coat is predominantly black, followed by white, with a small number being black-and-white mixed. The wool is long and thick, providing good cold resistance. Ewes have well-developed udders, and the breed exhibits strong adaptability and disease resistance. Suited to dry environments, they can tolerate coarse feed and are kept on year-round grazing. They are adept at foraging grass, shrubs, hay, leaves, and even spiny plant foliage. During snowy winters, they can dig through snow to find food. They are capable of climbing steep mountain slopes and rugged cliffs in search of food. Adult goats have strong fattening ability, rapid weight gain, high meat yield, and produce wool of high quality. Their hides are generally of medium to upper-grade quality.
