The Man Ting Banquet

　　The Man Ting Banquet is a legendary divine feast from Wuyishan in Nanping. Today, various tourist hotels located at the foot of Manting Peak have revived this banquet. The spread includes local specialties from Wuyishan: ten small dishes such as “Wuyi Dawn” cold platter, pumpkin preserves, spicy and sour sprouts, dried eggplant, pickled fern shoots, smoked field dragon, and more; main dishes feature specialties like “Wen Gong Greets Guests,” Lan Valley Smoked Goose, Pengzu’s Delicacies, Four Treasures Egg Mushroom, Dragon Soars Phoenix Dances, and Colorful Deer Slices; there are also countryside snacks made from purely wild ingredients such as mugwort dumplings, immortal tofu, and caterpillar fungus; along with home-brewed white rice wine aged for years; and the melody “If only the host could make his guests drunk, they’d never know they’re in a foreign land” plays, making guests feel as if they’ve entered the enchanted caves and celestial palaces of Wuyi, floating in a blissful, otherworldly state.
