Cixi loofah is a protected geographical indication product.

　　Loofah, the plant used for making loofahs, is itself a traditional Chinese medicinal herb known for its benefits such as promoting circulation, relieving pain, and reducing bloating. When processed into bathing products, loofahs offer excellent skin-cleansing properties. The natural fibrous network of the loofah allows you to apply your preferred soap or body wash onto its surface, gently removing deposits on the skin’s surface along with dead cells, eliminating dry skin tissues, and leaving your skin moisturized and smooth after bathing.

　　　　 Known as the “Hometown of Loofah,” Cixi City is located on the southern shore of Hangzhou Bay, within the northern subtropical monsoon zone. It enjoys distinct seasons, a warm and humid climate, and abundant rainfall. This unique geographical environment gives Cixi loofahs fibers that are harder, denser, and whiter than those from other regions, with longer, straighter, more uniform, and thicker strands — an exceptionally high-quality trait. The processing of Cixi loofah products began in 1989, making it one of the first regions in China to develop loofah processing. After over a decade of growth, the area now hosts more than twenty processing enterprises, with annual sales reaching around 100 million RMB. Cixi’s loofah product output and sales volume range between 800 to 1,000 tons, and its loofah-based bathing products are exported to nearly 30 countries across Europe, America, and Southeast Asia.

　　　　 Currently, with strong support from inspection and quarantine authorities and other related departments, businesses continue to develop new products based on market demand. The range of Cixi loofah bathing products includes back-scrubbing series, glove series, toy series, children’s bathing series, slipper series, and bathing kits, forming a situation of “product serialization and variety diversification.”
