The Old Frontier Ridge stretches from the east side of Zhaojiatun through the east side of Shuangchengzi Tun, the west side of Xiqingshiling (Chenjiatun), and the east side of Sunjiayoufang Tun to Jiangjiadian Tun, spanning approximately 11 li. Its general direction follows the mountain ridge from north to south with a slight eastward inclination. Behind Jiangjiadian, it curves slightly southwestward, descending from the peak of Shanzuizi down into the alluvial fan of the Zhaosutai River, then turning southwestward across Madifang Village (formerly called Sunbianli) to cross the Zhaosutai River. On the left riverbank cliff, the profile of the frontier trench is visible. The trench remains take on a “trough-like” shape, with an upper opening 6 meters wide, a lower opening 2 meters wide, and a depth of 3 meters. The silt inside the trench is black-gray in color, high in sand content, and lacks stratification. The trench walls and bottom consist of yellow-brown clay. Since it has not been excavated, the contents of the silt within the trench remain unclear. Locally, this trench is referred to as the “Old Trench” or “Beilaohao.”
