This is an ancient city site from the Liao and Jin periods. The ancient city is divided into a northern and a southern section, 300 meters apart, with the northern part being larger than the southern. The relics unearthed from both sections are largely the same, with the southern city serving as a subsidiary to the northern one. The two ancient cities of Chenglengzi not only yielded a large number of cultural relics from the Liao–Jin period but also produced artifacts bearing typical Bohai culture characteristics, such as lotus-patterned roof tiles, light yellow and yellow-brown textured tiles, and fragments of long-necked pots. Based on these findings, it can be inferred that the two ancient cities of Chenglengzi were likely built during the Bohai period.
