Hulun Lake Golden Coast Scenic Area

The Hulun Lake Golden Coast Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Hulun Lake, also known as Hulun Pool, Dalai Lake, or Zhalainuoer (English: Dalai Lake), meaning "Sea Lake," is located in the western part of the Hulunbuir Grassland, between Xin Barga Left Banner, Xin Barga Right Banner, and Manzhouli City. It is an irregular oblong shape, with its long axis extending from southwest to northeast. In ancient times, the northern part of Hulun Lake was connected to the Hailar River, and the lake water flowed out into the Outer Xing’an Mountains, eventually making its way to the Sea of Japan.

Golden Coast

Hulun Lake is the only large body of water within thousands of kilometers in northern China, featuring vast waters and continuous marsh wetlands. Covering an area of 2,339 square kilometers, it is the largest lake in Inner Mongolia and the fourth-largest freshwater lake in China. It is sister lake to Lake Buir. With its misty waters blending into the sky, white sails dotting the surface, and shimmering waves, visiting Hulun Lake allows you not only to enjoy the beautiful scenery but also to savor a variety of delicious dishes made from hundreds of types of fish and shrimp.

Hulun Lake is also an important bird habitat in northern China and a key migration route for birds traveling across the eastern inland regions. The lake boasts eight famous scenic spots: Sunrise on the Water, Mirage over the Lake, Love of Horses by the Stone Piles, Waves on the Jade Beach, Tiger’s Roar at Hulun, Moon Viewing at Elephant Mountain, Birds Nesting in the Reed Marshes, and Listening to the Seagulls on the Isle.
