As a national AAA-level scenic area, national forest park, and patriotic education base at the level of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, it is situated at the southern foot of the Greater Khingan Mountains, 170 kilometers southeast of Yakeshi City and 234 kilometers from Hulunbuir City. It is named after being the source of the Chuo’er River. The wetland landscape and sites from the Japanese puppet regime period are developed for tourism together. In May 1942, in order to defend against the Soviet Red Army, the Japanese imperialists built a military defense line in Chuo Yuan, which mainly consisted of 18 clusters of fighter aircraft hangars, a 100,000-square-meter airport, a command center, and over 20 bunker caves. The park has a forest coverage rate of 83.3% and is rich in wildlife. The Yulin Scenic Area includes a 3-kilometer wetland boardwalk, pristine forests, six wooden villas, and a lakeside restaurant. The Wudan Scenic Area features the One-Line Sky, a forest adventure maze, and Qingling Lake. The patriotic education base includes the remains of the Japanese puppet regime’s airport, aircraft hangars, bunker caves, the site of the Japanese command center, and an exhibition hall for patriotic education.
