Baiyinchagan Obo

Introduction Baiyinchagan Obo is located at the southern end of the road, 42 kilometers west of Xilinhot City, Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. “Baiyinchagan” means “prosperous” or “rich” in Mongolian, so Baiyinchagan Obo translates to “a prosperous place.” The mountain here is tall and stands out prominently amid the vast typical grassland. The worship of Baiyinchagan Obo began during the era of the first Living Buddha of Beizi Temple, Baljir Lungdub, over two hundred years ago. Successive Living Buddhas of Beizi Temple have presided over the worship ceremonies of this Obo. The annual worship ceremony of Baiyinchagan Obo takes place on the seventh day of the fifth lunar month. On the day of the Baiyinchagan Obo worship, worshippers usually also visit Baolige Obo, which is located about four kilometers to the northeast of Baiyinchagan Obo. At the foot of the northern side of Baiyinchagan Obo lies a richly mineralized mirabilite lake, where cool, high-quality mineral water gushes from under the pebbles by the lakeside. This rare sight of alkaline water and mineral springs coexisting is truly remarkable. Transportation: Buses are available from Jingpeng Town, the seat of the People's Government of Hexigten Banner, to reach Baiyinchagan Obo, approximately 75 kilometers away.
