Zhengguo Lake Island is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Guangzhou Lake Island Tourist Scenic Area is located in Zhengguo Town, in the northeastern part of Zengcheng District, Guangzhou, with a planned development area of about 50 square kilometers (including a 13-kilometer stretch of the upper reaches of the Zengjiang River). Its core attractions include Menghuabu Rural Park, Lan Yuan Bamboo Sea, Lake Island, Erlong Ancient Ferry, and Huanghe Rural Park. Built around the concept of “a world of water, an ocean of flowers, and a paradise of birds,” it is a large-scale eco-tourism destination integrating sightseeing, leisure, tourism, entertainment, vacation, conferences, and business.

Lake Island Tourist Scenic Cruise Project: The route starts from Menghuabu Village in the west, passes through Tingtang Village, Lake Island, Erlong Ancient Ferry, Huangwu New Countryside, and ends in Hewu Village in the east, covering a 13-kilometer stretch of water. The two-hour cruise offers insights into the history, culture, and local customs of Zengcheng and Zhengguo, while showcasing the picturesque scenery of the Zengjiang River Gallery. It’s a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Menghuabu Rural Park: Highlighted by the tranquil and beautiful natural ecological environment of Menghuabu Village and its 2-kilometer-long sandy beach, this park is designed as a peaceful and romantic rural retreat. Visitors can stroll past mud-brick houses and old ancestral halls by the fields, enjoy the fragrance of flowers and the sounds of chickens and dogs, chat under lush banyan trees, fish in lotus ponds, walk along the beach, or relax by ancient olive trees, immersing themselves in a simple, serene, and natural rural life.

Tingtang Lan Yuan Bamboo Sea: Focused on nearly 100 acres of centuries-old black olive tree forests, the lush bamboo within, and the surrounding farmland scenery. The flat terrain of the olive grove features trees over a hundred years old—sturdy, tall, and uniquely shaped, forming a rare and picturesque landscape. Clusters of green bamboo fill the spaces between the olive trees, hugging the riverbank with fresh air and vibrant greenery, creating an exceptionally comfortable atmosphere. Together, the olive woods and bamboo form a natural leisure park by the beautiful Zengjiang River. Visitors can take a stroll along stone paths with loved ones or friends, listen to birdsong and flowing water, feel the gentle breeze and the aroma of olives, and enjoy leisure time. They may also ride bicycles through the olive groves, lean against the bamboo, and admire the Zengjiang River Gallery.

Lake Island Wetland Park & Erlong Ancient Ferry Cultural Tourism Area: Centered around the upper reaches of the Zengjiang River, Lake Island, and the green mountains and bamboo on both banks. Passengers on boat tours can disembark to explore these two areas, where they will learn about wetland culture, as well as the history, culture, and folk customs of Zengcheng and Zhengguo.

Huanghe Rural Park: Focused on the construction of the “Little Lake Island” park in Huangwu Village and the dock square in Hewu Village as key tourist attractions. These draw on historic buildings such as the Huangwu Ancestral Hall, the Republican-era Grand Theater, the Hewu Immortal Maiden Temple, and the Wuben Hall, along with ancient village architecture. The greening and beautification of the surrounding villages serve as highlights, contributing to the development of two riverside rural parks that exemplify the construction of a new socialist countryside.

Zhengguo Town: Historical Background: The name originates from a shepherd boy named Yu Bin. Legend has it that at the age of 8, while herding cattle, he had special powers that prevented the cattle from straying beyond the boundaries he marked for grazing. It is said that he later "attained enlightenment" in this area. In the third year of the Qingyuan era during the Southern Song Dynasty (1198), the Zhengguo Temple was built, leading to the development of a market town, initially named "Zhengguo" (meaning "attained enlightenment"), later simplified to "Zhengguo." During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it belonged to the Jinniu District of Zengcheng County. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it was part of the Fifth District. In 1958, it was renamed Zhengguo People's Commune (during the Cultural Revolution, it was temporarily called Qianjin People's Commune).
