Gaotan Hot Spring is located in Gaotan Village, Paitan Town. The hot spring features abundant natural outcropping thermal springs, with trace elements that hold high medical value. Tested by the Guangzhou Testing and Analysis Center according to medical therapeutic mineral water quality standards and natural drinking mineral water standards, the spring water mainly contains chemical components such as metasilicic acid, radon, and hydrogen sulfide, which have therapeutic effects on the human body, as well as beneficial trace elements like selenium, strontium, zinc, and bromides. These special chemical components and trace elements can penetrate the skin and act on human tissues during hot spring bathing, offering significant medical benefits. The daily output of the spring water reaches 4,000 tons, with temperatures ranging between 40–63°C. Geothermal water resources below this temperature range are even more abundant.

Gaotan Hot Spring is a therapeutic hot spring with high medical value. Due to the presence of a certain amount of hydrogen sulfide in the spring water, it offers particularly unique therapeutic effects.

The Gaotan Hot Spring Ecological Area is one of the Guangzhou Environmental Parks planned and established by the Guangzhou Municipal Government, located in Gaotan Village, Paitan Town.

Paitan Town boasts beautiful scenery with clear mountains and waters, and numerous natural landscapes. In front of Gaotan Hot Spring lies Shitou Mountain, behind it is the Dafengmen Reservoir with its shimmering blue waters, to the left are the Baishuizhai Reservoir and Qixiandun Reservoir, along with the greenery of the Dajian Tea Plantation and Tea Plantation Resort, all of which are enchantingly lush. To the right stands Niu'guzhang Peak, which rises 1,084 meters above sea level as the highest peak in Zengcheng, shrouded in mist, with steep cliffs, ancient trees, rare flowers, and exotic birds and animals that captivate visitors.
