Dafengshan Forest Park

Dafengmen Forest Park is situated in Paitan Town in the northern part of Zengcheng, with the Tropic of Cancer crossing through it. The park spans an area of 38 square kilometers and is covered with a wide variety of plants including camphor, pine, red maple, bayberry, red cotton tree, king fern, red tallow tree, and bamboo. There are hundreds of plant species under national third-level protection or higher alone, making it a haven of rare flowers, ancient trees, and abundant medicinal herbs. Among them, the king fern and Quercus phillyraeoides—plants dating back to the dinosaur era—are both classified as national first-class protected plants. The forest remains lush all year round, with vast expanses of greenery. In spring, waves of green surge vibrantly; in autumn and winter, the colors turn vivid and varied, from rich hues to stark white. The woods are also inhabited by various wild animals, such as wild boar, masked palm civets, pangolins, and squirrels that roam freely across the mountains.

Dafengmen has four large and small sky ponds. The largest one was turned into Dafengmen Reservoir in the 1960s, becoming a "Heavenly Lake" with uniquely colored water—a striking sapphire blue in the midst of the park’s green world. The other three are scattered along the mountain-looping highway. Dafengmen Forest Park is a natural oxygen bar and one of the best destinations for eco-tourism.
