The Former Site of the Central County Committee of the CPC in Zenglongbo is a classic red tourism destination.

The Former Site of the Central County Committee of the CPC in Zenglongbo is located in Baimianshi Village, Zhengguo Town, Zengcheng. It is a small courtyard complex built halfway up a mountain, featuring two rows of buildings — one on the east and one on the west — each with four tiled rooms, enclosed by walls. From April 1940 to May 1942, it served as the headquarters of the CPC County Committees of Zengcheng, Longmen, and Boluo, where it mainly led the Party organizations in those areas, making significant contributions to the victory of the anti-Japanese struggle in the Dongjiang region of Guangdong. In 2005, the site was designated as a patriotic education base in Zengcheng City. To promote revolutionary traditions and “red culture,” the Zhengguo Town government began renovating the site in 2006, investing nearly 500,000 yuan. The restoration followed the principle of “rebuilding in the style of the old,” reconstructing the “Central County Committee” to fully respect the appearance of the original site. The architectural style remains faithful to the traditional Hakka earthen building compound layout, and the interior arrangement mirrors the original site. Some materials used in the reconstruction, such as bricks and wooden pillars, were even original parts of the site, ensuring the rebuilt “Central County Committee” preserved the original look as much as possible, thereby maintaining the continuity of revolutionary historical and cultural heritage.

The Central County Committee of the CPC in Zengcheng, Longmen, and Boluo (abbreviated as the “Central County Committee of the CPC in Zenglongbo”) was a Party organization that existed during the difficult period of the War of Resistance Against Japan. In April 1940, in response to the needs of the war situation and following the directives of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, the Central County Committee of the CPC in Zenglongbo was established on the foundation of the CPC Zengcheng County Committee. It exercised unified leadership over the Party organizations of Zengcheng, Longmen, and Boluo counties, leading the broad masses of Party members and the people in these three counties in their courageous struggle against Japanese invaders and the diehard faction of the Kuomintang. In May 1942, the destruction of the CPC Northern Guangdong Provincial Committee occurred, causing Party organizations at all levels within Guangdong Province to once again enter a phase of covert operations. In accordance with the instructions of the CPC Former Eastern Guangdong Special Committee, the Central County Committee of the CPC in Zenglongbo was disbanded. During its more than two years of existence, the Central County Committee of the CPC in Zenglongbo underwent two leadership adjustments, with Guo Datong, Zheng Zhong, and Zhong Jinghuan serving as secretary in succession. From April 1940 to February 1941, it was under the leadership of the CPC Dongjiang Special Committee, and from March 1941 to May 1942, it was under the leadership of the CPC Former Eastern Guangdong Special Committee. The Central County Committee’s headquarters remained in Baimianshi throughout. It had jurisdiction over the CPC Zengcheng Suburban Working Committee, the CPC Longmen Working Committee, the CPC Boluo County Committee, and three district committees: the CPC Zhengguo District Committee, the CPC Paitan District Committee, and the CPC Fuhe District Committee.
